My yoga teacher suggested we try the Green Smoothie Challange.

Just the thing I needed to get back on track and start eating more raw foods. 

As I don't absorb nutrients terribly well due to a sluggish digestion, I thought the idea of having Green Smoothies was a great one for getting all those minerals etc into a liquid and fibre to easily be absorbed into my body.

I have only been drinking Green Smoothies for a few days now, and already my nails are going white on the ends and they are so much stronger.  This is a good sign for me!

I would like to share this recipe we had today.  It sounds disgusting and looks disgusting, but tastes delicious and is packed full of Iron, Vitamin C and lots lots more! 

Update: Since drinking one Green Smoothie a day, I have so much more energy, my nails are stronger and I have lost weight!

Ricandi's Immune Strengthener Green Smoothie
5 main sprigs of Flat Leafed Parsley
1 cup of water
1 cup of orange juice
1 thick slice of lemon (take skin off if it isn't organic or spray free)
1/2 cucumber with skin on
1 apple cored but leave the skin on
4 drops of Stevia extract
Blend all ingrediants for at least 30 seconds.  Serve immediately.

Oregano Delight
A large handful of Oregano
1/2 cup of good quality squeezed Orange Juice
1/2 slice of fresh Pineapple
4 dried organic Apricots
1 large Tablespoon of LSA
1 Apple with skin
a Squirt of Vanilla Stevia or Maple Syrup
Place in Blender and Blend for at least 30 seconds.

Perfect Persimmon & Kiwifruit Green Smoothie
2 Persimmons peeled and seeded
4 bunches of Spinach
2 Kiwifruit Peeled
1" slice of Fresh Pineapple peeled
1 Tablespoon of LSA (Linseed, Sunflower and Almond Grounded Mix)
1-2 cups of water (depending on how thick you want smoothie)
Blend for at least 30 seconds.

Summer Salad Smoothie
2 large handfuls of any salad mix
1 large handful of alfalfa sprouts
1 kiwifruit peeled
1 apple with skin
1 handful of organic sultanas
2 large Tablespoon of LSA  (Linseed, Sunflower and Almond Grounded Mix)
2 -3 cups of water
a Squirt of Vanilla Stevia or Maple Syrup
Blend for at least 30 seconds

Beetroot Blast
1 Fresh Beetroot grated
2 Kiwifruit peeled
1 Persimmon peeled
1 large Silverbeet leaf
A squirt of Stevia liquid
Blend for at least 30 seconds

TIP:  Make sure most of the ingredients have been chilled.

I have now found the secret to making delcious Green Smoothies!
Use just soft fruits.  I was using apples and oranges, but now just use fruit like kiwifruit, persimmons, banana, pear etc....

Ginger Madness
Makes 2 big glasses
1 slice of fresh ginger
1 Tbsp LSA
2 cups of water
1 persimmon
2 Kiwifruit
1 banana
2 Silverbeet leaves
A squirt of Stevia
Blend for at least 30 seconds
